Alphabet
This is the first year that I've worked with a Kinder who is struggling with recognizing upper and lower case letters. It's a work in progress, but every week my Kinder friend does a little better. I have no doubts that with a little more practice, my Kinder friend will know those letters!

Alphabet Match
Another Target Bullseye's Playground find for the win! I found these materials in Summer 2021. The alphabet is a border trim and the clothespins have uppercase letters on them. I used a permanent marker to write the corresponding lowercase letters on the back of each upper case letter clothespin. The object of the game is simple: first match uppercase to uppercase, then lowercase to uppercase. I didn't want my Kinder friend to sing the "ABC's," so I printed off an assessment from Google that mixed up both upper and lower case letters. This way, my Kinder had no idea which letter was to come next. We've played this game a couple times together. I also allowed my Kinder to take it home to play throughout the week.
Alphabet Scavenger Hunt
I also found these letters in Bullseye's Playground this summer. They were part of a pack that I laminated and cut out. I try to always laminate my things before children use them. It makes them last and if I need to sanitize, I can without ruining any materials. I "hid" both upper and lower case letters around my classroom in eye level of my Kinder. Did I hide some letters in tricky places? Absolutely! It is a game! My Kinder had three tasks with this game: 1) Find the upper case letter. 2) Find the matching lower case letter. 3) Put them in the correct order. As you can see, my Kinder started with the letters they knew first, commonly the ones that look pretty similar both upper and lower case. My Kinder then went back and started from the beginning, singing the "ABC Song" each time before going on a hunt. As you can see, we didn't quite finish in our allotted time together. That's okay. We will pick up right where we left off the next time we're together.
Alphabet Go Fish
My newest creation for alphabet practice is Go Fish. I made these cards to use with my Kinder friend. Super simple rules. I let my friend choose three cards from the pond. I also chose three. We then took turns asking for the upper or lower case letter that was needed. If a match was made, it was put out to the side. I think this game would work better for a small group or with less cards. As always, you live and learn.
